A two-day Saree Jacket Sewing Training Programme was successfully held on June 12 and 13, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. The training aimed to enhance sewing skills among local women, promoting both personal use and small-scale business opportunities.
Participants received hands-on guidance from experienced trainers in:
- Accurate body measurements
- Pattern drafting and fabric cutting
- Sewing techniques specific to saree jackets
- Finishing, styling, and quality improvement
By the end of the programme, most attendees had completed their own saree jackets, gaining both confidence and practical skills. The initiative was well-received and seen as a step forward in women’s empowerment and local economic development.
