A comprehensive training programme on papaya cultivation was conducted on April 25, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. The session aimed to equip participants with practical, hands-on knowledge in papaya farming—a rapidly expanding, high-demand crop with significant potential for small-scale agribusiness development.
The training focused on key aspects of efficient and sustainable papaya cultivation, including optimal space utilization, low-input farming methods, and core techniques such as variety selection, land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and integrated pest management.
The primary objectives of the programme were to promote self-employment opportunities, enhance local fruit production, and strengthen food security at the household level. Participants gained valuable insights and skills that can be applied to establish or improve their own agricultural ventures, contributing to broader community development and economic resilience.
