The Ladies’ Handbag Sewing Training Programme was conducted on August 28, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. The objective of the training was to equip participants with practical skills in designing and sewing fashionable and functional ladies’ handbags, promoting self-employment and creative entrepreneurship.
Key areas covered included:
- Selection of suitable fabrics and accessories
- Pattern making and cutting techniques
- Sewing and assembling different handbag styles
- Adding linings, zippers, handles, and decorative elements
- Finishing, quality control, and basic marketing tips
Participants engaged in hands-on practice and completed sample handbags under the guidance of experienced instructors. The training was well-received and encouraged participants—especially women—to explore handbag production as a viable home-based or small-scale business opportunity
