The Knitting Design Training Programme was held on September 3 and 4, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. This two-day training aimed to provide participants with foundational skills in knitting and introduce them to creative design techniques suitable for making garments and decorative items.
Key areas covered included:
- Introduction to knitting tools, materials, and basic stitches
- Reading and creating knitting patterns
- Techniques for designing scarves, caps, sweaters, and other items
- Combining colors and textures for creative effects
- Finishing techniques and product care
- Market potential and pricing of handmade knitted products
Participants received hands-on guidance and produced sample knitted items during the sessions. The programme encouraged creativity and skill development, empowering attendees—particularly women—to explore knitting as a hobby and an income-generating opportunity. The training was well-attended and appreciated for its practical and artistic value.
