The Curtain Sewing Training Programme was conducted on September 11, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. The objective of the training was to equip participants with the skills needed to design and sew various types of curtains, promoting self-employment and home-based business opportunities.
Key areas covered included:
- Selection of suitable fabrics and materials
- Measuring windows and calculating fabric requirements
- Cutting, stitching, and hemming techniques
- Adding curtain accessories such as hooks, rings, and pleats
- Finishing, ironing, and installation tips
- Basic costing and marketing strategies
Participants received practical, hands-on training and successfully completed sample curtain panels. The programme was well-received and encouraged participants—especially women—to consider curtain sewing as a profitable small business or a valuable household skill.
