The beekeeping training programe was successfully conducted on April 29, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. This training aimed to provide participants with essential theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in modern beekeeping practices, focusing on sustainability and profitability for small-scale farmers and rural entrepreneurs.
Participants were introduced to the role of bees in agriculture and biodiversity, types of bee species, beehive setup and management, seasonal maintenance, honey extraction, and value addition. The programme also addressed safety protocols, pest and disease control, and marketing strategies for honey and related products.
The primary goal was to encourage self-employment, improve income generation, and promote environmentally friendly farming practices. By the end of the training, attendees were equipped with the foundational skills needed to start or expand their own beekeeping enterprises, contributing to local economic development and ecological sustainability.
