Bathik Production Training

The Batik Production Training Programme was held over two days on August 11 and 12, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. This practical and interactive workshop aimed to introduce participants to the traditional craft of batik making, combining artistic expression with entrepreneurial opportunity. The programme not only highlighted the cultural significance of batik but also positioned it as a viable avenue for income generation and self-employment.

The training provided a comprehensive introduction to batik production, covering its history, tools, and materials. Participants learned fabric selection, design preparation, and wax application techniques like hand-drawing and stamping. The sessions also covered dyeing methods, wax removal, fabric finishing, and care. Basic marketing and sales strategies for handcrafted batik products were also introduced.

Participants created their own batik pieces under the guidance of experienced trainers. The programme successfully enhanced artistic skills and encouraged participants to explore batik production as a potential small business. It was well-received and praised for its cultural and economic value.
