A Saree Jacket Sewing Training Programme was conducted on May 15 and 16, 2025, at the Rideemaliyadda Livelihood Development Center. The training aimed to provide participants with practical skills in tailoring, focusing specifically on the design and stitching of saree jackets.
During the two-day programme, participants received hands-on instruction in accurate measuring, pattern drafting, fabric cutting, sewing techniques, and finishing methods. Emphasis was placed on producing well-fitted, high-quality garments suitable for both personal use and commercial purposes.
The training was designed to promote self-employment, improve income-generating opportunities, and empower individuals—particularly women—with valuable skills in garment making. By the end of the training, participants were equipped to start or enhance their own tailoring businesses.
